Playground Inspector

Independent Certification for New Installations

A Post-Installation Inspection is a critical step in ensuring that newly installed playground equipment is safe, compliant, and ready for public use. At NPGI, we provide independent inspections in line with EN 1176-1:2017 and EN 1176-7:2020, verifying that every element of your installation meets the required safety and quality standards.

What Is a Post-Installation Inspection?

This inspection is a comprehensive safety audit carried out immediately after installation and before the playground is opened to the public.

According to EN 1176-7, the purpose is to:

  • Verify correct installation in line with manufacturer’s instructions and EN 1176 requirements.
  • Assess the overall level of safety of the equipment, surfacing, and layout.
  • Ensure that any modifications or site-specific adaptations do not compromise safety.
  • Confirm that the installation is ready for public use.

Why It’s Essential?

Even with professional installers, post-installation inspections provide an objective, third-party verification of safety and compliance.

They help:

  • Protect children and users from preventable hazards.
  • Prevent liability in the event of injury or incident.
  • Ensure the installation meets both legal and insurance obligations.
  • Provide essential documentation for handover, warranties, and asset records.

Carried Out by Competent, Independent Inspectors

Our inspections are conducted by qualified experts who meet the EN standard definition of a “competent person” — trained, experienced, and impartial.

Your post-installation inspection includes:

  • Review of installation documentation and site layout.
  • Physical inspection of equipment, foundations, fixings, surfacing.
  • Assessment of clearance spaces, fall zones, and surfacing compliance (EN 1177).
  • Evaluation of impact attenuation, stability, alignment, and finish quality.
  • Inspection report with risk assessment, recommendations, and sign-off for safety.

What We Inspect?

NPGI’s inspection covers:

  • All playground structures and components.
  • Fixings, foundations, and anchoring systems.
  • Safety surfacing, free height of fall, and critical fall height performance.
  • Layout compliance, including safe use zones and fall zones.
  • Ancillary items such as fencing, bins, benches, and gates.
  • Any on-site adjustments or deviations from manufacturer specs.
